About The Creation & Owner

 Merl is a native of the Westside of Chicago and she is employed as Clinical Trainer and Implementation Specialist for Various  Electronic Medical Record Systems. Merl recently relocated to North Carolina to be closer to the mines for The Melanin Mystic Shop. A mother of two daughters, a part time free lancer with graphic design and self published author.  Merl has always knew there was a light beyond what the masses conform to. Merl learned many practices from her father and older brother and has since continued to follow in that path. Merl was raised as a christian with her adopted parents being a Minister and A Deacon however, In her adult life she discovered spirituality.   She practices African Traditional Spiritual Practices based on her background and soul purpose.  Follow Merl On Instagram at @dacrystalchick

The Melanin Mystic Shop Journey THIS IS A STORY ALL ABOUT HOW LIFE GOT FLIPPED TURNED UPSIDE DOWN...Literally, I was going through a hard time with the loss of my adoptive mother and I began talking to my big brother Askari whom taught me about honoring my ancestors, spirituality and more all my life.

  So I went on a journey through books, videos, etc. studying all I could and I still am to this day and forever will be a student. When I visited a metaphysical store in Tennessee I was memorized especially by CRYSTALS....so I grabbed a few and of course I began heavy research. 

So I then prayed and talked to my ancestors about me having my own metaphysical shop. I began brainstorming ideas and I called on a siSTAR friend of mine Raven as well, we met for lunch and came up with product list, name, etc. which we birthed THE MELANIN MYSTSIC SHOP October 7, 2019. So we are a little over two years old and excited about the shop and PEOPLE!!! 

Later down the road, Raven went on to pursue her music, readings and massage therapy.Merilyn's daughter Jehlani helps a great deal with The Melanin Mystic Shop as well as her own business.
